Can I use a mechanical switch with an MA-PRO?
No, a Maestro companion dimmer (model MA-R, or MSC-AD) must be used with the MA-PRO. Mechanical toggle switches are not supported.

Can I use any dimmable LED with the MA-PRO dimmer?
We can only recommend dimmable LED bulbs that we have tested (per UL) and deemed compatible with our dimmers. Please use our LED Compatibility Tool to ensure you're using a bulb that is approved for this dimmer. If the bulb you are using does not appear on the approved list, please contact the LED manufacturer for a dimmer recommendation.

Can I use two MA-PRO dimmers in a 3-way application?
No, in order to dim from multiple locations, you’ll need one MA-PRO and one Maestro companion dimmer (model MA-R, or MSC-AD)

Do I have to use a companion dimmer in a 3-way (two locations) application?
Yes, a Maestro companion dimmer (model MA-R, or MSC-AD) must be used with the MA-PRO for 3-way control applications. See the installation guide or wiring wizard for more details and installation diagrams.

Do I need a companion dimmer for multi-location dimming and switching?
Not always, as it depends on the model number. Some products, such as the Maestro C·L dimmer, will work with a standard mechnical switch in a 3-way application. Other models may require a master and a companion device. Note: In a 4-way application, companion devices are always required.

Does this dimmer require a neutral?
No neutral is required for LED, Halogen, or Incandescent loads. We recommend connecting neutral if available for best dimming performance and compatibility. Other load types require a neutral. See the installation guide for details.

How do I get my lights to turn on to full brightness?
Your lights will always turn on to full brightness if you set a locked preset.(An unlocked preset will turn your lights on to whatever level they were last turned off. However, you can always double tap the dimmer to turn lights to full brightness.) Please see the Maestro programming guide for how to set a preset.

What is the minimum load?
The minimum load for this dimmer is 5W of Halogen/Incandescent or one LED off the approved LED bulb list (unless otherwise noted on the list). You can find compatible bulbs for this dimmer on our LED Compatibility Tool. Minimum load information for other load types can be found in the installation guide.

What programming options are available with the MA-PRO?
With this dimmer, you are able to adjust:

What wallplate do I use with this?
This device will work with Lutron Designer style wall plates:
- 1 Gang - CW-1-xx (Gloss) or SC-1-xx (Satin)
- 2 Gang - CW-2-xx (Gloss) or SC-2-xx (Satin)
- 3 Gang - CW-3-xx (Gloss) or SC-3-xx (Satin)
- 4 Gang - CW-4-xx (Gloss) or SC-4-xx (Satin)

When installing a master and companion dimmers, does it matter where I put the master?
You can place the master dimmer in any location, as long as it does not have a white wire/screw terminal for a neutral connection.

Will my dimmer work with low voltage LEDs?
Yes. Low voltage LEDs utilize either a magnetic (MLV) or electronic (ELV) low voltage transformer. The MA-PRO is rated to control both load types. See the installation guide for more details on load ratings.
