Creating Scenes In The Lutron App
Creating A Scene in the Lutron App
Create a scene to recall user-defined light levels, shade positions, fan speeds, etc., for Caséta devices. For example, create a “movie” scene that dims lights and lowers shades as the movie begins. Or create a “goodnight” scene that turns off all your lights and closes shades before you drift off to sleep.
Before creating a scene, the Caséta device (in-wall dimmer/switch/fan control, plug-in dimmer/switch, or shade) must first be added to the Lutron app. This requires downloading the Lutron app on your smartphone or tablet, creating a free account, and setting up the Caséta smart hub.
If you have difficulty setting up the smart hub, review the Smart Hub Setup and Install article on the Caséta Support Site for troubleshooting steps.
Review the following information before creating a scene in the Lutron app:
- A scene activates only one action (i.e. on or off) for a device or group of devices. The device(s) remain at their programmed level until a different scene, scheduled event, or manual action adjusts the device(s).
- Tapping the same scene again does not initiate the opposite action. For example, if a scene is programmed to turn the Kitchen Main Lights on, tapping that scene again will not turn the lights off.
- Scenes created through the Scenes menu do not map to Pico Scene keypad buttons. They must be programmed through the Edit Device flow of the Pico remote in the Lutron app, or manually.
- Countdown timers and schedules are unaffected by scenes and will continue to activate as programmed.
- Caséta wireless sensors can not be programmed to a scene.
Creating A Scene
Follow the steps below to create a scene in the Lutron App:
1. Tap SCENES on the home screen to access the scenes menu.
2. Tap Add Scene from the scenes menu.
3. Enter a name and choose an icon for your scene, then tap Next in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
4. Choose the device and set their levels for your scene, then tap Done/Save in the top right-hand corner.
Toggle Live Preview to preview the scene while programming.
5. The smart hub will finish programming your system. This may take a few minutes to complete.
Repeat the above steps to create another scene.
To edit an existing scene, tap to the right of the scene's name.
Important reminders:
- A scene can activate only one action (i.e. on or off) for a device or group of devices.
