Installing and Changing the Batteries In Your Lutron Roller Shade
Choice of batteries can have a significant impact on battery life in Lutron shades. For more information about optimizing battery life in Lutron shades, please refer to Optimizing Battery Life in Lutron Shades, Application Note #561.
Before you install or change the batteries in your shades, you must put your shade into the service position.

Step 1: Push up on the release tab on the left shade bracket. This is the same for both bracket assembly types, A, and B.
Step 2: While holding the release tab, slide the bracket forward to expose the battery tray and shade button.
Note for close-quarters installations: If you do not have enough room to fully remove the battery tray, due to a nearby wall or other obstruction, you must remove the shade to install or change the batteries.

Step 1: Push up on the release tab on the left shade bracket and slide the shade bracket out. This is the same for both bracket assembly types, A, and B.
Step 2:
Type A: Separate it from the left mounting bracket by pressing the release tab in the center of the bracket and separate the two pieces.
Type B: Separate it from the left mounting bracket by pressing the release tab and separate the two pieces.
Step 3:
Type A: With the shade angled down at least 30°, gently lift the idler out of the top of the socket of the Right Bracket assembly and remove the shade completely.
Type B: Gently pull the shade to the left to disengage the shade idler from the idler axle on the Right Shade bracket and remove the shade completely.

Installing Batteries into your Shade
Removing the Battery Tray and Attaching the Left Shade Bracket
Step 1: To remove the battery tray from the shade drive, pinch the battery tray release and pull the tray all the way out of the shade.
Step 2: Position the left shade bracket, with the rails facing away from the assembled shade, and press it onto the shade drive, engaging the retaining tabs at the top and bottom.
Installing the Batteries
Step 1: Define which battery tray is in your shade:
Type A (5 D-Cell Batteries)
Type B (4 D-Cell Batteries)
Step 2: Load fresh D-cell alkaline batteries into the battery tray.
Note: If there is enough room when your shade is mounted, the battery tray maybe installed after hanging the shade.
Step 3: Orient the loaded battery tray so that the UP arrow points toward the ceiling.
Note: Clearance required to nearest wall or other obstructions to allow full battery tray access without removing shade.
Step 4: With the open side facing up, insert the battery tray into the shade drive with the pointed end going into the drive opening.
Step 5: Slide the battery tray in until fully seated in the shade. The shade will power up, indicated by the shade button flashing RED/GREEN.
