Section (1):  Requirements

  • Google account 
  • Lutron system - Caseta / RA2Select / Connect (HomeworksQS or RadioRA2) / Homeworks
  • Google Home mobile app.  Press this LINK for more information on the Google Home App
  • Android 6+ if you have want to control your lights using the Google assistant on your Android phone


Section (2):  Linking Google Home to the Lutron App for Caseta / RA2 Select


Step 1

Tap the + from the Home Screen.

Select Set up Device

Select "Have Something Already Setup".

Now, find the Lutron service you wish to link to and click on it.​

Note that if you have gone through this account linking flow previously, you might not see the screen below where you enter your credentials. Your phone might autofill you account details and take you directly to the next page.

Step 7

This step only applies if you have multiple homes setup on your account. Select the system you want to link to. as only one home is supported through a single Google Home account at this time.

You should see your Lutron service appear under 'Linked Services' now.

Section (3):  Using Google voice commands to control your Lutron System

Below are some common Google voice commands to control your Lutron Caseta or RA2 Select system.  All of them can be used to control individual devices as named in the Lutron App -or- the Groups of devices you created in the Google Home App in the previous section 

 

"Ok Google, sync my devices"

  • Sends Google a list of all Google-eligible devices that are currently on the user's account. 
  • This implicitly happens upon the user clicking the 'Authorize' button during setup (see above).
  • This should ideally be done after new devices are added to the system for them to become available to Google.
 

"Ok Google, turn on/off (Name of device as named in Lutron App)"

  • Turns all included lights to 100% or 0% (on or off respectively)
     

"Ok Google, brighten/dim (Name of device as named in Lutron App)"

  • Increases/decreases the level of all included lights by 45%
     

"Ok Google, brighten/dim (Name of device as named in Lutron App)"

  • Increases/decreases the level of all included lights by the requested percentage
     

"Ok Google, activate (Name of Scene as named in Lutron App)"

  • Activates the scenes called out (Note: the scene must be created and still on the Lutron app)
 

"Ok Google, set (Name of device as named in Lutron App) to x percent"

  • Sets the level of all included lights to the requested percentage
     

"Ok Google, raise/lower (Name of device as named in Lutron App)"

  • Same as brighten/dim
     

"Ok Google, raise/lower (Name of device as named in Lutron App) by x percent"

  • Same as brighten/dim
     

"Ok Google, open (Name of shades as named in Lutron App)"

  • Sets all the level of all included shades to 100%
     

"Ok Google, close (Name of shades as named in Lutron App)"

  • Sets all the level of all included shades to 0% 
  • For venetians and horizontal sheer blinds, the tilt will also be set to 0%.
     

"Ok Google, open/close (Name of shades/blinds as named in Lutron App) to x percent"

  • Sets the level of all included shades to the requested amount. 
  • Note that for shades, only an absolute level can be specified; cannot raise or lower shades by a relative amount.
     

"Ok Google, turn/tilt/rotate (Name of shade/blinds as named in Lutron App) to x percent"

  • Sets the tilt of all included shades to the requested amount.
  • Note that for shades, only an absolute tilt can be specified; cannot rotate shades by a relative amount in either direction.
