RA2 and RA3 Blink codes for Maestro devices

Maestro Dimmers/Switches/Keypads Blink Codes 
 

NOTE: Indicator lights are numerically ordered from bottom to top.  

Example: Device indicator light "1" is the bottom LED, indicator light 7 is the top LED 

 

Symptom: 

  • LED loads do not operate properly. Symptoms would be flickering, flashing, ghosting, or buzzing

 

Cause and Action: 

  • Is the load from the Lutron compatible tool? Please visit www.lutron.com/ledfinder 

  • See Phase-Select Mode 

  • Adjust low-end trim 

  • Connect Neutral Wire 
     


 

Symptom: 

  • IL’s 1 and 7 are flashing.

Cause and Action: 

  • Over Voltage Detected

  • Verify that the control is set correctly for the load. 

  • Check the Phase-Select Mode setting. 
     


 

Symptom: 

  • Bottom three IL’s (1,2, and 3) are flashing.

Cause and Action: 

  • Shorted FET Detected

  • Wiring error. Product may be permanently damaged. 

  • Check wiring to be sure it matches the installation instructions and wiring diagrams.
     


 

Symptom: 

  • All IL’s are flashing.

Cause and Action: 

  • Over Current Detected

  • Check Phase-Select Mode setting. 

  • Verify that no bulbs are blown out. 

  • Verify that product is wired properly. 

  • Cycle power to the unit using the FASS switch to reset. 

  • If using LED or CFL bulbs, verify that they are Lutron compatible bulbs, please visit www.lutron.com/ledbulbs 

 



Symptom: 

  • Load is OFF and there are no indicator lights on the dimmer. 

 

Cause and Action: 

  • Power Not Present 

  • Circuit breaker OFF or tripped. Verify that product is wired properly. 

  • Load is not installed or connected. Dimmer MUST have a load to operate. 

  • FASS is in the OFF position. Move FASS to the ON position by pushing it back in. 

  • Wiring Error 

  • Check wiring to be sure it matches installation and wiring diagrams. 

 



Symptom: 

  • Lights turn ON and OFF continuously. 

 

Cause and Action: 

  • Improper load type or less than the required minimum load 

  • Recommended minimum load is 10w/10va or one compatible LED lamp listed at www.lutron.com/ledfinder 

  • Connect Neutral wire. 

 



Symptom: 

  • Middle IL is flashing.

Cause and Action: 

  • Over Temperature Detected

  • Load may exceed maximum load rating

  • Ambient temperature may exceed maximum product rating

  • Cycle power to the unit using the FASS switch to reset

 



Symptom: 

  • Dimmer IL’s are ON but load cannot be turned ON and/or cannot be turned OFF

 

Cause and Action: 

  • Wiring Error 

  • Check wiring to be sure it matches installation instructions and wiring diagrams

  • Lamps Burned Out or Not Installed 

  • Replace or Install Lamps

 



Symptom: 

  • IL’s 3 and 7 are flashing

Cause and Action: 

  • Line/Load Miswire Detected 

  • Swap wires on Black and Brass screw terminals 

 



Symptom: 

  • Lights do not turn ON/OFF from keypad or from other remote devices. 

 

Cause and Action: 

  • Improper Programming 

  • Refer to the RaidoRa2 software or Lutron App for Ra2 Select to ensure proper programming 

  • Out of RF Range 

  • Reposition to be withing 30ft. (9m) of a RF Signal Repeater 
     

  



Ra2 Maestro Standard Keypads 


 

Symptom: 

  • LEDs on a keypad don’t light up when button on it are pressed. 

 

Cause and Action: 

  • Power not present at keypad 

  • Circuit breaker OFF. Turn ON breaker. 

  • Incorrect Wiring 

  • Wire the keypad accorder to the Installation section. 

 



Symptom: 

  • A specific dimmer, switch, or shade/drapery not controlled when a button is pressed on a keypad. 

 

Cause and Action: 

  • The dimer, switch or shade/drapery is not assigned to keypad. 

  • Refer to the RadioRa2 programming software and ensure the device is assigned to the keypad.  

  • Perform a transfer and make sure it is successful. 

  • The device is “unaffected” for that button. 

  • Refer to the RadioRa2 programming software and ensure the device is assigned to the keypad.  

  • Perform a transfer and make sure it is successful. 

  • The lamp(s) controlled by the dimmer/switch is (are) burned out. 

  • Replace the lamp(s) 

  • Either there is no power to the device or the FASS switch is pulled out on a dimmer/switch. 

  • Ensure that the device is powered and push the FASS switch in. 

  • Device are out of range. 

  • Check to make sure all Pico wireless controls, keypads, dimmers, switches, and shades/draperies are within 30ft. (9m) of each other. 

 



Symptom: 

  • Dimmer, switch, or shade/drapery does not go to the desired level or position when a button on the keypad is pressed. 

 

Cause and Action: 

  • The button was not programmed correctly. 

  • Refer to the RadioRa2 programming software and ensure the device is assigned to the keypad. 

  • Perform a transfer and makes sure that it is successful. 

  • The device is “unaffected” for that button 

  • Refer to the RadioRa2 programming software and ensure the device is assigned to the keypad. 

  • Perform a transfer and makes sure that it is successful. 

  • The button pressed is the bottom button. 

  • The bottom button cannot be saved or modified. 

  • Device(s) are out of range 

  • Check to make sure all Pico wireless controls, keypads, dimmers, switches and shades/draperies are within 30ft. (9m) of each other. 

 



Symptom: 

  • All LEDs on the keypad flash when a button is pressed. 

 

Cause and Action: 

  • The keypad is in the Factory Settings mode and has not been configured to work in a system. 

  • Refer to the RadioRa2 programming software and ensure the device is assigned to that keypad. 

  • Perform a transfer and make sure it is successful. 

 



Ra2 Maestro Hybrid Keypads 


 

Symptom: 

  • Lights do not respond to a Hybrid Keypad button press or do not go to desired levels. 

 

Cause and Action: 

  • Circuit break tripped or OFF. Reset or turn ON circuit breaker. 

  • Push FASS switch in. 

  • Make sure the blue terminal is not grounded or shorted to any other wires. 

  • Wire the Hybrid Keypad according to the Installation section and the appropriate Wiring Diagram. 

  • Replace or install lamps. 

  • If dioded lamps are being used, replace with non-dioded lamps 

  • Reposition to be within 30ft. (9m) of an RF signal repeater. 

  • Program according to the system Setup Guide. 

 



Symptom: 

  • Attached lights turn ON when the top Hybrid Keypad button is pressed, then turn OFF. 

 

Cause and Action: 

  • Wiring error. Wire the Hybrid Keypad according to the Installation section and the appropriate Wiring Diagram. 

  • Make sure the connected load meets the appropriate minimum load requirement for that control. See Load Specifications. 

  • Program according to the system Setup Guide. 

 



Symptom: 

  • All LEDs on the Hybrid Keypad flash when any button is pressed. 

 

Cause and Action: 

  • The Hybrid Keypad is in Factory Settings mode and has not been configured to work in a system 

  • Follow the steps in the system Setup Guide to program the Hybrid Keypad. 

 



Symptom: 

  • Wallplate is warm 

 

Cause and Action: 

  • Solid-state Hybrid Keypads internally dissipate about 2% of the total connected load. It is normal for Hybrid Keypads to feel slightly warm to the touch during operation.
