How to update Clear Connect Type A device firmware
Overview
We now support updating Clear Connect Type A devices on residential systems in the Lutron Connect Portal.

How to update Clear Connect Type A device firmware:
- In the Lutron Connect Portal, navigate to Your Place > Your System > System Monitor. Select a processor with Clear Connect Type A devices to update
- Click on the Device Firmware Updates button under the page’s Support heading
- A Device Firmware Update window will appear on the right side. If any Clear Connect Type A devices in the system have a firmware update available, they will appear here.
- Use the check boxes to choose which devices you would like to firmware update and then press the Update button.
- A dialog will appear with additional information about the update process. Press the Continue button to acknowledge this message and proceed with the updates.
- The Device Firmware Updates window can be used to monitor or cancel updates while they are in progress. The window may also be closed and the ongoing updates will continue in the background.

Q: Do I have to keep the System Monitor open and running to complete the firmware update?
A: No, the application can be closed while the firmware update is in progress; the update will continue to run in the background.
Q: Will the firmware update process affect my system in any way?
A: While the update is in progress system performance may be impacted. However, everything should start working as expected once the update is complete. For eg. Your Pico control may not work while the update is in progress.
Q: Are there any limitations while the firmware update is in progress?
A: You must not activate any devices, or transfer to your system while an update is in progress.
Q: How long does the firmware update process usually take to complete?
A: Firmware updates typically take about 10-15 minutes per device, you can monitor the progress via the System Monitor.
