Identify Lutron Shade Type By Button Or Label

Knowing the product family of your shade is important to learn the capabilities, programming options, and available integrations for each of our shades.

If you are unsure of what shades are installed in your home or project, the easiest way to identify Lutron shades are:

  1. By locating the buttons on the shade - On every Lutron shade, you will see either ONE button or FOUR buttons depending on the type of shade.

  1. By locating the label or sticker on the shade

1. Defining by buttons:

a. One button - If there is only one button, these shades are part of our 12-volt family and may be either battery-powered or wired for power. This button is also the indicator light.

Defining by Label:

If you are still having trouble determining which shade you have, the manufacturing label will list the product family, exact model number, order number, and line number. To find this, look for a label in the location listed below based on your shade type:

1. 12 Volt, Single Button Shades -

     a. Roller Shades – The label with Order Info can be found inside the headrail or near the battery compartment.

     b. Honeycomb Shades – The label with Order Info can be found inside the headrail or near the battery compartment.

     c. Wood Blinds – The label with Order Info can be found inside the headrail or near the battery compartment.

2. 35 Volt, 4 Button Shades -

    a. Roller Shades – The sticker with order information can be found on the tube. This will require the shade to be lowered past the normal lower limit to expose the tube.

    b. Roman Shades - The sticker with order information can be found on the tube. This will require the shade to be lowered past the normal lower limit to expose the tube.

    c. Wood Blinds - The sticker with order information can be found on the inside of the headrail, usually on the room side under the dust cover. If there is a valance ordered with the shade, that will also have the sticker on the backside.

    d. Drapery Track – The sticker with order information can be found on the ceiling-mounted side of the track.

    e. Tensioned Roller Shades - The sticker with order information can be found on the tube or the frame/fascia.        It is usually easier to find the label on the frame since the drive tube is captured in the frame.

    f. Horizontal Sheer Blinds - Since these typically have a mounting rail and/or fascia, each piece of trim would have a sticker on it and those can be used to identify the shade.
