Cloud Connect/Places Introduction

Lutron's Cloud features allow installers to back up and restore the system's Project file and make remote changes to the system's programming.

 

This article demonstrates how to use Lutron Designer's Connect features and navigate the Places menu.

Viewing Projects in the Places Menu

Open Lutron Designer and choose a system type to get started. Designer automatically loads the Connect Places menu. 

 

 

 

To open a local Designer Project file, select Browse local at the bottom of the Connect Places screen. 

 

 

 

 

 

Version History

To view the history of a Place tap the three dots next to the Open button and select View Version History

Note: Place history is not available in the Lutron Connect Portal.

 

 

The Version History screen displays a Quick Access menu and an Available Versions menu.

 

Note: The Current Version, Last Conversion, and Last Transferred versions only display if they apply to the system you are currently viewing.

 

You may add up to 100 Characters of notes to each version by clicking on the Notes section.

 

 

 

 

Verifying the Cloud Status of a Project

Click on the Cloud icon (located in the top right corner next to the user's name) to view the project's current cloud status.

 

 

 

Clouds Statuses in Designer

 Green: Remote services are enabled, and project cloud sync is good. 

 Yellow: Remote services are enabled, but this account does not have permission to use them. The homeowner must share access via the Lutron App or the programmer must share access to the required Lutron account. 

 Red: No internet connection on PC.

 Gray: Cloud sync is not enabled for this project. This can be changed in the project settings.

 

 

Performing a Remote Transfer

Follow the steps below to perform a remote transfer in Lutron Designer:

  1. Click on the transfer tab.
  2. Confirm the processor(s) are online. Review the "Processor Status in Designer" section below for more information.
  3. Click Start Transfer to begin the remote transfer once all processors.

 

Processor Status in Designer

  Blue - The initial processor status until Designer connects/fails to connect to the Processor.

 Green - The Processor is online and ready for a Remote Transfer.

  Red - Designer is unable to connect to the Processor. This occurs if the Processor is not connected to the internet.

  Yellow - The Processor is not activated.

 

 

 

Remote Diagnostics in Designer

Navigate to the diagnostics tab and select the drop-down menu.

 

The diagnostic options in Designer are:

  • verify loads
  • verify devices
  • system activity viewer
