If you can control your Lutron devices with the Lutron app while connected to any network (Home Wi-Fi, Work Wi-Fi, cellular data, etc.), but can only control your Lutron devices through the Apple Home app while connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Lutron Smart Hub, Main Repeater, or Processor than your HomeKit setup may not include an Apple Home hub.
If you do not have an Apple Home hub connected to your network, you will only be able to control your Lutron devices through the Apple Home app while connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Lutron hub, main repeater, or processor.
If you were previously using an iPad as an Apple Home hub or need to change which device acts as your Home hub review the Apple Support article linked in section 3 of this article.
If your Lutron devices are non-responsive in HomeKit whether you are connected to the same network or different networks as your Smart Hub, Main Repeater, or Processor, check to see if any recent changes were made to your network.
Also, check that your Lutron Smart Hub and Apple Home hub are connected to the same network. If the two hubs are on different networks they may not be able to communicate with each other.
If bypassing the network switch does not resolve the issue, or if you have recently changed routers or ISP-provided gateways, perform a network power cycle by following the steps below:
Resetting the HomeKit integration will remove all your Lutron devices from the Apple Home app and any programmed automations. This will not delete your Devices, Scenes, or Schedules from the Lutron app.
It is important these steps are followed in the order they are presented to ensure the Lutron hub no longer integrates with HomeKit.
Step 1
From the Apple Home app tap on the More icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen and select Home Settings from the drop-down menu.
Step 2
From the Home Settings menu scroll down and select Home Hubs & Bridges.
Step 3
Under the heading Bridges locate the Lutron Smart Hub. This could be named something like “Default Room Caséta Smart Hub”.
Step 4
Tap on the Lutron Smart Hub and at the bottom of the screen select Remove. If prompted, confirm the removal of the hub.
Step 5
Once the Lutron hub has been removed from the Apple Home app, press and hold the small black button on the back of the Lutron hub for 40 seconds and release.
Now that the HomeKit reset process is complete, integrate the Lutron hub with HomeKit in the Lutron app. For more information on how to link your Lutron hub with HomeKit follow the steps in the "How to setup Apple HomeKit (Siri) with Caséta/RA2 Select" article.
If you are still unable to resolve the "no response" issue in the Apple Home app, contact Lutron Technical Support using the information at the bottom of this article.
