Using Caséta Wireless Motion Sensors
Lutron Caséta motion sensors are wireless, battery powered, passive infrared (PIR) sensors that automatically control lights via RF communication to compatible dimming or switching devices.
Programming Features using the Lutron App
Choosing the Lights & Fans to Include
From within the Lutron App you will be able to select which lights or fans within the room the Occupancy Sensor is placed you would like the sensor to control with motion. Remember, the Sensor will only be able to control devices from within the same room it is placed in the Lutron App. You can also enable and disable Auto on and Auto Off from this area as well as set a certain light level for the Sensor to turn the dimmer on to with occupancy.
Note: You can only have one occupancy turn on light level setting for the dimmer. You cannot have multiple different light level settings throughout the day/night.
Step 1
From the Device area of the Lutron App tap on the Sensor icon you wish to edit.
Step 2
Select "Edit Device" from the pop up screen.
Step 3
Select "Lights & Fans to Include".
Step 4
Here you can select the lights or fans in the room you wish to work with the Sensor. You can also set the level you want the device to turn on to with occupancy or turn off to when the timeout has expired with no occupancy. Lastly, you can disable or enable Auto-On and Auto-Off by checking or unchecking the "Unaffected" option under each option. After all selections have been made simply select "Save" in the top right corner of this screen.
Setting Active Hours
Active Hours is a feature within the Lutron App that allows you to set a time range for the Sensor to be active and a range for it to not be active if desired. The default setting is All Day. Please see the steps below to help program this feature.
Step 1
From the Device area of the Lutron App tap on the Sensor icon you wish to edit.
Step 2
Select "Edit Device" from the pop up screen.
Step 3
Select the Active hours Option
Step 4
Select the Sensing option you would like to set the Active hours for. You can only set one time range per sensor. Default setting is "All Day" for both Auto-On and Auto-Off.
Step 5
You will have three options to set the Active Hours for the Sensor. The options are All Day, Only At Night (Sunset-Sunrise), or Set Custom Time.
Step 6
If the Set Custom Time option is selected, you can then set the Start and Stop time for the Sensor to be active within this range. Only one range can be set per sensor. Meaning you are either using All Day, Only at Night (Sunset-Sunrise) or the Custom Time you setup. You cannot have multiple programming ranges.

Tips: Occupancy Sensor
- Have Pets? Pets transmit heat and may activate sensor. It is recommended to disable Auto-On.
- Using in a bedroom? If placing sensor in bedroom, it is recommended to disable Auto-On.
- The mounting height of the sensor should be between 6 ft and 8 ft (1.6 m and 2.4 m).
- Hot objects and moving air currents can affect the performance of the sensor. To promote proper operation, the sensor should be mounted at least 4 ft (1.2 m) away from light bulbs and Heating / Air Conditioning vents.
