Lumaris Multi-Channel Tape Controller Troubleshooting
This article provides troubleshooting steps to perform when experiencing issues with the Lumaris RGB Multi-Channel Tape Light and Controller.
Before You Begin
- Do not use the 2-channel controller with the Lumaris RGB tape light. The Lumaris RGB tape light is only compatible with the multi-channel controller.
- Only use with the LU-PH3-A or LU-PH3-B power interfaces.
- Ensure the 6 wires on the tape light are properly connected to the controller.
Wiring Verification Mode
The controller has a built-in Wiring Verification Mode to assist in testing whether the connections to the controller are good. Follow the steps below to enter Wiring Verification Mode:
- Press and hold the U-shaped button on the wireless controller for 6 seconds until the LED indicator starts rapidly flashing green.
- The green LED indicator light will flash in the following order to indicate which channel it is checking:
-
- Channel 1 - Flashes once every 4 seconds
- Channel 2 - Flashes twice every 4 seconds
- Channel 3 - Flashes three times every 4 seconds
- Channel 4 - Flashes four times every 4 seconds
- Channel 5 - Flashes five times every four seconds.
- Repeats the above cycle until the Wiring Verification Mode is exited.
During Wiring Verification Mode the active channel is powered on to 20% light level to provide visual confirmation that the channel has a good physical connection.
Note: Refer to the tape light wiring specifications for the order in which colors are matched to a channel.
- Press and hold the U-shaped button for 6 seconds until the LED indicator light rapidly flashes green.
After the indicator light flashes for 2 seconds, it will either remain on to indicate the device is unclaimed or power off to indicate the device is claimed.
Note: If there is no button interaction for 10 minutes, the multi-channel tape controller automatically exits Wiring Verification Mode. Any button press on the tape controller resets this timer.
Troubleshooting and Device Blink Codes
Intensity is Controllable but not Color or Color Temperature
The device is activated in the system but does not have a tape light type assigned to it. Ensure the tape light type is associated with the device in the Lutron Designer software, then transfer the database again.
Red LED Flashes Once Then Pauses for 2 Seconds
There is an output short circuit. Check the load connections and then turn the load off and on again to reset.
Red LED Flashes Twice Then Pauses for 2 Seconds
The output is drawing too much current. Confirm that the total run of the Lumaris tape light for this controller does not exceed 32 ft (10 m). Then, turn the load off and on again to reset.
Red LED Flashes 3 Times Then Pauses for 2 Seconds
The input voltage is too low. Ensure the input voltage is 24 VDC +/- 10%.
Red LED Flashes 4 Times Then Pauses for 2 Seconds
The input voltage is too high. Ensure the input voltage is 24 VDC +/- 10%.
Green LED Is Continuously On
The controller has not been activated in the system.
