RadioRA 2 to RadioRA 3 conversion
In this article, we'll go over how to convert a RadioRA 2 system to a RadioRA 3 system, including how to extract the project file, convert it, and what to do if the extraction fails.
Article Contents:
Before we begin
To ensure a successful conversion, keep these points in mind
- We highly recommend ensuring you have the latest version of the Lutron Designer Software
- You can find the latest version of Designer from your MyLutron's Resource page
- You will need the project file from the RadioRA 2 system
- If you do not have the RadioRA 2 project file, you will need to extract it from the Main Repeater
- For more information on extraction, please see our RadioRA 2 Software Article.
- Ensure the RadioRA 2 project file has been updated to 12.10
- If extraction is needed, ensure you have the RadioRA 2 software installed to do the extraction.
- This can be located from your MyLutron Resource page, or the Legacy Products page while signed in.
- For the Extraction process, you will want to be able to be hardwired to your network via the ethernet cable
- Along with this, we recommend reviewing the RadioRA 2 networking guideline to ensure your computer can communicate with the Main Repeater
How to convert a RadioRA 2 project to RadioRA 3:
-
NOTE: Do NOT factory reset the RadioRA 2 Main Repeater(s) while on-site. This will result in a Factory Default of all other wireless devices in the RadioRA 2 system. If this occurs each device will need to be re-activated to the RadioRA 3 system.
-
Open the Lutron Designer software, 23.2 or higher, select RadioRA 3.
- In versions 23.5+, using the Places Menu Select Browse Local.
- A warning box will appear with devices and features not supported in the conversion to RadioRA 3. It is recommended to save this information for future reference, select Save and Continue.
-
A Project File Conversion box will appear, select Yes to enable cloud remote services for the project, then select Apply Settings and Convert the Database. (Note, selecting No in cloud services will disable remote features and prevent the project from being recoverable if the physical file is lost.)
- Save the converted project. You have successfully converted a RadioRA 2 project to RadioRA 3!
